Rainy night and day...

It's raining cats and dogs today, so I thought I'd take a bit of time to share a few rose pictures. There really are dozens and dozens of photos this year.

Lime Sublime?

One of the thrills of buying body bag roses from the big box stores in the early spring is never knowing what you're going to get. I've had a Royal Highness turn out to be Electron, a solid red Oklahoma grow instead to be a stripedy Scentimental. It's like a fun gamble, at very little cost.
I have my first body bag mystery of the season here. I bought a healthy body bag rose labeled Chicago Peace, and was delighted to find no sign of Chicago Peace in sight. What do you think I have here? Could it be Lime Sublime? There is a definate lime tone here...

Charmed by a giant bee.

I don't know too much about bees, but you can be sure I'll remedy that soon. Once I figure out where I'm lacking knowledge, I usually take action. Meanwhile, I love watching these pollenators in action. I love how much they seem to appreciate my garden, as if to thank me for planting all the intoxicating nectars for them. Once upon a time I feared the bee, now, I know he wants my plants and not me. If I stay calm, and just observe him, he doesn't even seem to know I'm there.
This week I was lucky enough to watch a huge bee savor some salvia in my back border. the yellow privet and blue flowers made for a magical setting. I was so enchanted by this bee! I had never realized they use their "arms" to climb the flower. Pretty amazing. Hope you enjoy!

Rose Photo Contest

I have never entered a photo contest before, but while catching up on some blogs I found Gardening Gone Wild was having a rose photo contest. I love growing, photographing, and sharing my roses, so I thought I'd give this contest a try. I included three of my favorite rose shots... as the contest is limits us to 3 entries. No doubt, I could have added more. LOL!
Hope you enjoy a reprise of some of my favorites:

Rose 'Distant Drums'
